Intensive Summer Research Program

Garret Rubin

The Intensive Summer Research Program, or ISRP, is designed for current Pharm.D. students with these goals:

  • Determining if a Ph.D. degree is the right path after Pharm.D. graduation
  • Identifying a research mentor for the Ph.D. degree
  • Exploring a research area of interest in the Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Gaining valuable research experience under the mentorship of COP graduate faculty researchers

ISRP is an 8-week funded research program from May to July. Students are expected to dedicate full time (40 hours per week) for the entirety of the program. All UF Pharm.D. student participants must request IPPE/APPEs In BLOCK 3.  Students will receive a stipend for their participation, but will not receive academic credit.

ISRP is targeted to rising 2PD or 3PD students. Applications are accepted from current 1PD and 2PD students enrolled at the UF College of Pharmacy and other ACPE accredited colleges of pharmacy. Students from other colleges of pharmacy should contact PharmSciResearch@cop.ufl.edu in advance of applying.

Students must identify a research mentor from the UF College of Pharmacy graduate faculty and consult with them prior to applying to the program. The program is available on all three UF College of Pharmacy campuses and includes active involvement in a research project, participation in journal club and laboratory group meetings, and presentation of the research project in a research forum. ISRP applications will be reviewed and top candidates will be invited to interview with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education.

ISRP applications for summer 2024 are now closed. Please check back in fall 2024 for information about the 2025 program.
